Joshua Opdenaker began his professional art career with a stone-carving concentration B.F.A. from the University of the Arts in 2002. After pursuing stone carving’s traditional methods for several years, he deicded to learn a more immediate medium. Glass blowing was a natural progression of his take to a new art form, lampworking. In 2003, he teamed up with Philadelphia Glass Works and became their permanent resident artist. J.O.P.’s style is impossible to generalize or classify. “I believe the beauty in glass sculpting comes from the never-ending struggle for perfection in theory and in execution. The art is not in the finished piece itself; the art is in the process and movement of physically making the work.”
